01 — Lymphatic Massage in Alexandra Hills

Feeling puffy, heavy, swollen or in need of gentle recovery support?

Lymphatic Massage is a light, calming massage technique designed to support the body’s natural lymphatic flow. Unlike deep tissue massage, it uses gentle, rhythmic movements to encourage fluid movement and help the body feel lighter, calmer and more settled.

At Bodywork Bowen Therapy in Alexandra Hills, Eb Smith provides Lymphatic Massage in a calm and supportive clinic environment for clients across Alexandra Hills and the Redlands area.

What it is

What is Lymphatic Massage?

Lymphatic Massage, sometimes called manual lymphatic drainage, is a gentle therapy that focuses on supporting the movement of lymph fluid through the body.

The lymphatic system plays an important role in fluid balance and general wellbeing. When lymph flow feels sluggish or the body is holding fluid, some people may notice swelling, heaviness, tightness or discomfort.

Lymphatic Massage uses soft, precise and repetitive movements to encourage lymph fluid to move more freely through the body.

Lymphatic Massage does not replace medical care, diagnosis or post-surgical advice. If you have recently had surgery, are under medical care or have unexplained swelling, it is important to follow your healthcare provider’s guidance before booking.

Some clients seek Lymphatic Massage as part of their recovery support after surgery or other treatments.

This should always be done safely and at the right time. If you have recently had surgery, medical treatment or a procedure, please check with your doctor, surgeon or healthcare provider before booking.

Once appropriate, Lymphatic Massage may help support comfort, swelling management and relaxation during the recovery process.

04 — The technique

Targeted flow. Natural detox. Whole-body balance.

Lymphatic Massage is ideal for people who want a gentle, non-forceful approach. The treatment is usually very light and calming, making it suitable for clients who may not want strong massage pressure.

It may be especially helpful when the body feels sensitive, tired, swollen or overloaded.

The goal is to support fluid movement, relaxation and whole-body wellbeing without placing unnecessary stress on the body.

05 — What to expect

Your first appointment, step by step.

01

A short conversation first

A typical visit takes around 45–60 minutes, including time to talk through what you’re feeling and to let your body settle afterwards.

02

Sit or lie comfortably

You’ll stay fully clothed — only your shoes and socks come off. You can sit reclined or lie down on the treatment table, whichever feels most settling.

03

Reflex points on the feet

Eb applies pressure and massage techniques across specific reflex points on the feet, working both feet through the session at a calm, unhurried pace.

04

Pressure adjusted to you

Pressure can be lighter or firmer depending on what feels right. The treatment should remain comfortable and grounding throughout.

05

A calm finish & aftercare

Most clients leave feeling settled and grounded. You’ll receive simple aftercare guidance, plus suggestions for water and rest.

06 — Common questions

Lymphatic Massage, answered.

The questions we hear most often from new clients before their first session.

No. Lymphatic Massage is usually very gentle. It uses light, rhythmic movements rather than strong pressure or deep tissue techniques.
Lymphatic Massage may help support fluid movement and comfort for people experiencing swelling or fluid retention. Unexplained, sudden or severe swelling should always be checked by a healthcare professional.
It may be suitable as post-surgery support, but only once your healthcare provider has confirmed it is appropriate. Always follow medical advice after surgery.
Comfortable clothing is best. Eb will explain what is needed for your session and will always prioritise your comfort and privacy.
Many clients feel relaxed, calm and lighter after treatment. Everyone responds differently, so Eb may provide simple aftercare guidance based on your session.
