What to expect in your first Bowen Therapy Appointment
New clients are asked to fill in a form providing contact details and a brief medical history.
The therapist will spend 10 minutes gathering further information about the client’s current issues and past injuries, episodes of pain or immobility, operations, or illnesses.
The therapist will discuss with the client their expectations in relation to this treatment.
The therapist will assess the body looking for any imbalances that give clues to the cause of the pain.
The treatment will last 45 to 50 minutes and consists of a series of gentle movements over specific points of the muscles and fascia of the body.
The moves can be made through light clothing.
Clients often report that they feel ‘looser’ or they are ‘standing up straighter’. Many find it remarkable that such a simple and gentle treatment can ‘get rid of the pain’
After the treatment clients are encouraged to drink water and move often throughout the day.
A follow-up treatment within a week may be required to ensure the body holds the changes.
A long-standing injury may require regular ongoing treatments.
This can be discussed with the therapist at the completion of the treatment.
